A belter of a Casio (or close enough), and great service from Scarce

A near unbeatable Casio if you like its futuristic ’70s style and case upgrades. It has more wrist presence than for example the A168 and, in my opinion, more charm.

The stainless steel case, brushed on the face and polished at the sides, with metal buttons, whips the usual Casio resin. Likewise the mineral crystal, which improves the display clarity.

I can’t argue with Casio fans’ disappointment about minimal water resistance and a snapback case, and a basic module with no 24-hour or countdown time. Fixing these would make it a hell of a watch.

The bracelet is neither as good or as bad as people say. It complements the watch beautifully: that’s undeniable. Yes, it’s a hair-puller; no, it’s not that hard to resize; maybe it’s a bit cheap.

For me, the A1100’s design and build quality outweigh these niggles. Sure, it’s expensive for a vintage-style Casio, but Scarce & Co.’s pricing (especially with 10% extra off) is very competitive.

Their free shipping is also excellent – I ordered late on a Monday night, and the package got from Adelaide to Melbourne safe and secure on the Wednesday morning.

If you’re into the look, this watch is both more serious than the average Casio and a lot of fun. It’s all I need from a digital watch, as I usually wear mechanicals.
