G-Shock MR-G Tsuiki Titanium MRG-B5000HT-1

Regular price AU$11,999

DESCRIPTION

Unleash the artistry of metalwork with the MR-G MRG-B5000HT — a limited-edition masterpiece of Japanese craftsmanship, restricted to just 500 numbered pieces worldwide. Each bezel and bracelet is hand-forged from DAT55G titanium and finished with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating, delivering exceptional hardness and scratch resistance. Master artisan Kazuya Watanabe applies the traditional tsuiki hammering technique to create a distinctive relief pattern on every watch. His subtle “yuragi” style achieves an organic rhythm where no two timepieces are ever alike, embodying both rugged strength and refined artistry. Since its debut in 1996, MR-G has pushed the boundaries of G-SHOCK design, and this model stands as its most striking expression yet.

Please note this product will ship to Australia only!

KAZUYA WATANABE

Born in 1978 in Sanjo City, Niigata Prefecture. After graduating from the Department of Arts and Crafts Design at Nagaoka Institute of Design in 2001, Watanabe joined Gyokusendo, a historic copperware factory. There, he studied traditional techniques of hammering copperware before establishing his own forge in 2005. Watanabe is the recipient of many awards, including the New Artist Award at the 43rd Japan Contemporary Arts and Crafts Exhibition and the Contemporary Crafts Prize at the 47th Japan Contemporary Arts and Crafts Exhibition. Since 2010, he has focused on solo exhibitions. Engaging in collaborations that span a range of genres, Watanabe explores modes and possibilities of contemporary craftsmanship.

TSUIKI

Tsuiki (literally, to shape with a hammer) is a traditional Japanese hammering technique used to shape metal. Different hammer blows and varying degrees of force are applied to create unique textured patterns that evoke the kind of warmth and individuality that only handcraftsmanship can achieve, with no two pieces the same. Used since ancient times to produce tea sets and ornaments, tsuiki is still regarded as a symbol of high art and sophisticated crafts in Japan today.
